What is complete patient advocacy?

Serving patients across the entire spectrum of health care.

Complete Patient Advocacy means being committed to working 100% on the patient’s behalf - not the insurance company, not the doctors, nurses and other health care providers. Marie views every patient as a whole person and is therefore concerned with her patient’s complete medical and non-medical requirements.

She assists with prescription monitoring, negotiating additional benefits from insurance companies, the creation, implementation, and monitoring of patient care plans, and facilitating clear communication between the patient, the patient’s family and health care providers. Marie also monitors nutrition requirements and other essential responsibilities such as ensuring bills are paid and errands are run.

As a Complete Patient Advocate, Marie assist her client’s with:
Initial assessments

With every new patient, Marie begins by conducting a complete assessment of the patient’s current situation, chief concerns and challenges. With Marie’s medical background and more than 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry, she is well qualified to understand and explain diagnoses, treatment options, medical records and test reports.

She listens to her client’s frustrations, needs and wishes. If necessary, she completes medical literature research for the patient and/or the patient’s family. The result is a complete and comprehensive plan of care that includes specific directions for care, and detailed recommendations.

Care Plan Creation and Implementatione

As a result of the massive complexity of our current health care system, all patients (especially long-term care patients) need someone advocating on their behalf for their best care at the lowest cost.

This can be close to a full time job for those without an extensive background in the health care system.

Most families simply do not have the time, energy or expertise to fill that roll.

A comprehensive care plan ensures the highest possible quality of life for the patient and their family. Care plans may involve medical literature research, include further referral for care and support, and address methods for resolution of current and perceived roadblocks to the patients best care options. Care plans include careful oversight of potentially conflicting treatment options and medications.

Marie is available to accompany the patient to doctor visits, monitor transitions from one level of care to another, to work with health care providers on the patient’s behalf and assess and modify the patient’s care plan as needed.

Above all, Marie ensures that the patient is at the right level of care.

Sorting out insurance claims, manage paperwork and negotiate for additional benefit coverage

Marie repeatedly saves her clients thousands of dollars in out of pocket medical costs and countless hours spent on paperwork and research.

Health insurance and medical billing can be enormously confusing and tedious. Marie works on her client’s behalf to choose the best insurance plan (including Medicare), handle paperwork and insurance filings, resolve insurance problems, help find additional payment resources, and negotiate insurance claim denials.

Having worked in the insurance industry for 12 years, Marie has the knowledge and the expertise to negotiate with insurance companies to get additional benefits for her clients and reduce out of pocket expenses.

Broad oversight of the patient’s needs

Marie ensures that her patients have nutritious food in their kitchens, are getting the bills paid, are able to deal with home maintenance issues, and are getting where they need to go when they need to go there.

She supports both the patient and their health care providers by providing timely information that ensures the highest level of care. In the case of employment issues, she works on her client’s behalf to negotiate a mutually beneficial solution for the employer and the patient.

She ensures that her patients are kept safe and well informed, never neglected or mislead by the system.
